Tear off

When tearing off the existing roof several layers might exist. Under those layer or layers there will either be a solid deck or spaced planks like below. In this case a solid deck has tro be added in order to have a solid nailing surface.

Sheathing

When we encounter spaced sheathing like above we will have to install CDX plywood or an OSB plywood. There are different options you could go with when it comes to sheathing, but we like to use a foil faced OSB plywood. It can drop the temperature of the attic up to 30 degrees and combined with proper ventilation we believe this is a step above all while keeping every project budget friendly.

Underlayment

There are different options when it comes to underlyaments. There are your traditional saturated felts and synthetic felts for shingles. Modified underlayments are mainly used for your tile, synthetic tile and wood products. The one used for your home will be dependant upon the matieral to be installed.

Venting AND air flow

Proper ventilation is very important for every roof instillation. The most common used vents are half moon dormer vents and flat/low profile vents . The idea is to create circulation and help everything from the roof shingles to the attic space perform at its best. There also other options like ridgevents and exhaust fans that can help the homes performance.  

installation
